Tastes like.... ORZO!!
  • This orzo really tastes like regular wheat version! I was so excited to finally taste something so similar to the "illegal" version. It also doesn't have a packed calorie content, unlike scd bread. You can eat a normal portion size guilt-free! It does need to boil for a lot longer than wheat pasta - I cooked mine for half an hour. Be patient, though, because it's quite worth it! I had it mixed with caramelized onions as a side for chicken, and it was absolutely scrumptious! Can't describe my excitement at eating something so REGULAR! Thank you Wellbees for pulling it off again!

Orzo means “barley” in Italian, referring to its small, barley-like shape.

Wellbee's Lentil Orzo is a healthy plant-based meal packed with protein and nutrients, with about 25% protein and full of nutrients like B vitamins, magnesium, zinc, and potassium.

1/2 cup Wellbee's Lentil Orzo

2 tsp. Olive Oil

1/2 tsp. Paprika

1/4 tsp. Garlic Powder

1/4 tsp. Onion Powder

1/2 tsp. Sea Salt


Cooking Instructions:

1) Place orzo into a medium sized saucepan, add the rest of the ingredients, and stir well. 

2) Toast the orzo for around 3 minutes on a medium heat, until the color changes to brown. Stir every minute to prevent it from scorching.

3) Once it's fully toasted, add 2 1/2 cups of cold water. 

4) Cover the pot, increase the heat to high, and bring the contents to a boil.

5) Lower the heat and simmer on a medium heat for 40 minutes or until the water has been fully absorbed. 

6) Optional add ons: Add sauteed onions, steamed veggies or enjoy it with your favorite sauce.
